Getting to know others is important even in the professional world.  It is an aspect of humanity I think we have lost in Corporate America.  People are your most valuable asset and it is important to know who they are.

My family has been in the USA since the 1600's and 1700's.  They hit the shores of Virginia and immediately moved South.  My heritage is Western European with some Native American.

I was raised in rural Louisiana.  Everyone farmed and raised cattle.  We had free run of the countryside, pastures and woods, including Boise Cascade's property.  We played in the woods and creeks swinging on vines like Tarzan.  We swam in the ponds, where the cattle drank and cooled off in the Summer months.  We played in the swamp with frog eggs, tadpoles, frogs, and a host of other things.  It was an excellent way to learn about life and develop a work ethic.

I attended a small public school from grades 1-12.  Friends from those formative years helped shape me just as my family did.  I am just as grateful for their influence, too, and treasure them today.  Though the school was small, it provided a wonderful foundation from which to continue learning.  I admire and respect my teachers and their efforts to educate me over the years.

I believe in Christ and study the Bible.  The Bible is our guidebook for life.  I do not believe in pushing my beliefs on others.  If others wish to discuss them, I will.  Otherwise, I trust God's ability to handle all things.  I believe others' beliefs are to be respected.  I believe it is my responsibility to work with all people to the best of my ability.  The Bible teaches to not lead others astray, respect them, respect their beliefs, and leave the rest to God.

I was asked recently what my culture is.  My culture is Southern.  We value:
          ~ Honesty
          ~ Hard work
          ~ Respect for others
          ~ Work with all people
          ~ Good manners
~ Listen more than you talk
          ~ Politeness
~ Honoring verbal as well as written contracts/agreements
          ~ Fiscal responsibility
          ~ Civic and social responsibility
~ Mean what you say/say what you mean
          ~ Hospitality
~ Helping others especially those less fortunate

In short, we believe people should live honorable lives but do not believe in crucifying people for mistakes.  We all make them and they are not the end of the world.  That is Biblical, too.

I have done carpentry work in the form of buildings, from the foundation work to the roof.  I have helped family and friends renovate their homes and lay new roofing paper and shingles.

I enjoy too many aspects of life to list but they are mostly the simple things in life.  I enjoy family and friends, books, technology, learning, motorcycles, hiking, backpacking, bicycles, and traveling.

I am single and do not have children.  I am completely footloose and fancy-free so I can go anywhere.  It does not mean I will but that I can.
